Dear Sandy & Gena,

I started reading your blog one month ago, and finished last week. I read from day one and didn't want to find out where you where until the end. When I first saw your website design and the dates of the first entrées, I was sure you would be long gone by now, keeping the site as a historical archive while being on the second lap around the globe. Little did I know that you had just bought… a log house??? When I read that I felt kind of gutted.

The thing is, that my partner and I have been going around with this dream (similar to yours I guess), for many, many years. And are getting closer and closer to…. the beginning. - Now if I'd imagine it would take us 10 years++ from now to set sail....

… - I think we'll still do it!

Seeing how happy you guys look on the pictures during the sea trials and “cruising around”, I am 100% sure it is/was worth it.

Can't wait for the page two of “cruising around” – this is where the dream starts!

Good luck, and happy holidays in the new log-house. :)

Until March.

Hi Heldlik,

Yes I feel kinda "gutted" too believe me, but the market was right, and property is a safe investment in any walk of life. (Plus we have somewhere to unload on and lighten the boat a bit)
We will still consider ourselves live aboards though and the house, belive it or not, isn't near as comfortable as the boat, it's a shack really, but lots of potential in the future.

As you are planning to build yourselves, I would recommend buying a hull, already made, from an abandoned project... It'll cut at least 2 years off of the building time for sure, and you can get into the fun stuff right away. We've seen 2 Roberts 432 hulls in the past 2 years up for sale for less than the materials cost to build them.
We have some friends that have bought a hull, the same design as ours, and have already been on a voyage through some of the most challenging waters in the world, just with a bare hull and primer on it!

I wish you all the best of times on your upcoming project in any case. We are very excited to get under way in April, and the boat is patiently waiting for us to return.
Because of the "spring advantage", the new destinatiuon is, as was originally, the Marquesas, then on to Polynesia. Hawaii will have to wait for another day.

I promise to keep the site updated whenever we can get connections, and look forward to it.
