Hi Steve,
Yes we are for sure. The wind has been challenging of late!
We were just across from Comox, but have headed back south to Nanaimo. Is there any good anchoring around there? Marinas? It all looks pretty tricky so we generally stay away from that side of the sea.
Not sure where were going from here.
I any case I'm sure we can meet up somewhere along the line before you go.
Cheers!

Sure , lots of good anchoring in Comox Harbour. A little deep at 60-70' but good holding. Usually space at the east side of the government dock for transient.
The Comox Bar is a non-issue with never less than 14' next to the three channel buoys. Don't even look for the range markers on the shore , they are nearly invisible in the houses.

Just back from an overnighter to Tribune Bay.

Listen to the Great Northern Boaters Net on 3870 lsb at 0730 hrs every am. Again , less formally at 1800 hrs on 3860 kHz lsb. Lots of cruisers up and down the coast from Alaska to Puget Sound.

The weather for going down the W Coast has been ideal for the past two or three weeks. Hopefully it will last until sept.

In settled NW weather like this Tribune Bay on Hornby Is is great.

As you have found I'm sure Nanaimo is pretty busy.

Lasqueti and Jedediah are awesome with lots of good anchorages. Jedediah is probably a little crowded at this time but there is always room in Boho bay on Lasqueti.

Hi Steve,

Wow thankyou for all that info. We'll be heading back North shortly so perhapswe'll give it a try, will keep you informed.
Been listening to the net you mentioned, thankyou for that too. didn't know it existed! A bit early in the morning for us though hehe. The evening one is better :)

At Nanaimo it seems there's a wind funnel effect. All the bouys up from here measure 15-18 knots, yet the wind there was 25-35 knots, and the forecast is 10-15 knots. Never noticed it last year, but this year thats happened 3 times.

Looks good for SE'er's so we'll be heading North. Where depends on the wind of course.
Will stay in touch
